Jon Desborough is the commentator for the World Rally Championship. He also stars on the #AllLive WRC+ APP and the television coverage around the world.
Jon has been involved with the WRC since 2002. When not travelling the world with motorsport’s most exotic and adventurous series, he was a sports presenter at Sky TV but always, quietly trying to get back into the sport.
He says that passenger rides with Richard Burns, Colin McRae and Tommi Makinen in the late nineties changed his life. He later went on to collaborate with Burns on his 2002 autobiography, Driving Ambition.
He was shortlisted for sports presenter of the year in 2002 at the prestigious Royal Television Sports Awards for his work fronting the Channel Four coverage of the WRC in the UK.
El Condor – Top of the World, is Jon’s debut WRC short story. It was written to give petrol heads a brief respite from the challenges of COVID 19. As fiction, all characters, organisations and events portrayed are the product of the author’s imagination. Although, as Mark Twain said about Tom Sawyer, ‘one or two were experiences of my own’.
